Meet the Players

Barry Green

Barry Green

Barry Green’s magical multimedia program brings Charley Harper’s whimsical wildlife art to life through emotionally rich music ranging from Broadway and Disney to the Beatles and beyond. Several audience members have told Barry: This was the most amazing and inspirational concert of my life.

Green’s remarkable career spans from serving as Principal Bassist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra to becoming the bestselling author of The Inner Game of Music, while touring internationally as a solo artist with this unforgettable program for audiences of all ages. From Australia to Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and across America, Green has mastered the art of communicating the spirit of life, nature, and animals through music, storytelling, and video.

Through the imaginative lens of the Four Elements—Air, Water, Fire, and Earth—Green transforms Harper’s art into a deeply moving multimedia experience filled with wonder, laughter, beauty, and awe. OMG… I’m on fire from the immersion, the tears, and the awe. Emmy-quality… a PBS special wrote one audience member.

Green credits his greatest classical and jazz mentors not for their virtuosity alone, but for their humanity and ability to touch the heart and soul of an audience. When I heard John Clayton play the ballad Emily, or François Rabbath perform The Cry of Venice, it was always the emotional highlight of the concert. François once told me his goal was to make audiences cry with love, beauty, and joy. That is what inspires my programs.

“Barry’s Earth-Art-Animals concert brought me to tears and touched my soul. — Jack”

Reverend Mary Tarbell-Green — Narrator

Reverend Mary Tarbell-Green

Rev. Mary Tarbell-Green is an Interfaith Minister and retired hospice chaplain for adults and pediatrics. She currently serves as a funeral and wedding celebrant and as Assistant Minister for Pastoral Care at the First Unitarian Church of Cincinnati.

She especially values officiating funerals and Celebrations of Life for those who are “non-affiliated,” allowing her to co-create meaningful, personal services with families. Mary lives with her excitedly talented husband, Barry, and their dog, Scooby, along with cats Tai and Chi.

Her unique gifts in spiritual comfort, storytelling, and inspiration have carried naturally into her work as narrator for Barry’s many multimedia productions, including numerous performances of Earth, Art, and Animals.

Living along the beautiful Ohio River, Mary’s deepest spiritual practice is to sit outdoors with her morning coffee and marvel at the river’s metaphors for life—serene, choppy, reflective, deep undertow, compelling, and murky.

Encouraged by her dear friend William Spear, Mary has also completed an edgy and heartfelt book about children and families and their journeys on hospice. Bursting With Life: When Children Enter Hospice is currently seeking an agent and publisher.

“Loved every moment! Mary you are a total inspiration!” — Sue
